To finish up my trophies, I wrapped cord around the legs so they would look more like scratching posts. Unfortunately, Michael's ran out of the cord I started with so I had to improvise with a darker cord. I only glued the top and bottom of those so I can replace them with the right type of cord when I get some. I wrapper a piece of ribbon around each can to resemble a label. I used green because it complements the red cat trees. I didn't want to make it look too trophy-ish so I just wrote FAT CAT on the top can on each trophy. I glued the cat toys and bowl to the trophies so they won't fall of. The last thing I did was glue the stacks of cans on top. I'm not totally satisfied with the end result, but I think that's just because of the weird cord I had to use to finish them. Once I get the right cord, I'll fix them and then I'll be able to give them to my cats and my sister's cat.

I wanted to use silver crayons for all of my casts because I wouldn't have to fix the colour, but I honestly don't ever want to use crayons for this again. I melted 48 crayons, but that was only enough to make 4 casts. Luckily, I need 4 casts for the second place trophy, so I can use these for the top of that one and I can use other materials for the other two trophies. I have a few clay casts from my tests and I like how they feel, so I decide to use one for the third place trophy. The wax provided is the most plentiful material that I enjoy using, so I decided to make all of the casts for first place out of the wax. Cleaning up all of the wax and crayon casts was tedious, but worth it. I spray painted all of them metallic silver so they would be unified even though they're all different materials.
I made a second plaster mold of my cat food can because I need 15 cans and having two molds will make this project go by a lot faster. This mold turned out much better than the first one, but I forgot to add a drain hole so Leticia helped me by drilling one into the side for me.
I made my test casts out of clay. The cast is definitely not perfect, but the main issue is the top which isn't even that bad aside from the extra bump and the rim of the can, which I think was just too thin. After making the first three with clay, I made one with wax and I like that method a lot more, so I will probably use wax for the final project.
Making my plaster mold was fun, but also kind of difficult. When I was making the second piece, I forgot to put Vaseline on the other side before pouring in plaster so I tried taking the plaster out (it wasn't a lot) then I put Vaseline on and started pouring it in again. That caused some issues getting the pieces apart when they dried, so I had to use a chisel to open it. They didn't turn out perfect, but I'm still going to try it out. There was a bubble on the lid, but I can fix that on the casts when they're finished.
My idea is to make the Fat Cat Awards for my cats and my sister's cat. They're all so fat it's actually impressive so they deserve awards. I haven't thought much about the base, but I know I want to stack cat food cans relating to how much food each cat eats and how fat they are. Of course first place will have the most cans and third will only have one. I'm playing around with shapes for the bases, triangle is my favourite so far because it looks weird. I want to make my own labels for the cans if I have the time to do so, so I'm keeping the label for reference. This is a picture of the can I am using to make my cast, it has a dent in the side but I kind of like that because my cats sometimes get so excited about food they knock it off the counter, so the dent is perfect.
